Replacement of all fifty two of the old wood 2 x 4 bunk bed frames at the shelter have been completed.
The second shipment arrived and frame assembly took place in May with the final phase of replacement taking place this summer.
The new metal bed frames are wider providing more sleeping area, will handle more weight, need less maintenance and will last longer.
The metal framed beds are stronger and provide better structural support, are better for sanitation plus the metal frames have an upkeep advantage.
In January we placed the initial order of beds for the first phase of the replacements.
The rooms were cleaned and freshly painted as we cycled out the old bed frames with the new.
Thank you Albany Mennonite and First United Methodist Churches for raising over $13,500.
Also thank you to At Home Furniture and Mattress SuperStore for providing frames at a discounted rate.
