  • What:  National Weather Service High Wind Watch.

  • When: Monday, 12/22/2015 11:00 am to 6:00 pm

  • Where: Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Willamette Valley (Eugene to PDX), Vancouver, Columbia River Gorge

  • Winds: South to Southwest winds sustained 25 - 40 MPG with gusts to 60 MPH

  • Local Detail for 12/22/2015:
    • 7:00 am: Pin Point Forecast for Albany projects South winds at 21 gusting to 22 MPH.  Winds will increase as we approach 10:00 am
    • 10:00 am to 4:00 pm: South winds 33 MPH sustained, gusting to 52 MPH
    • 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Decreasing winds but still brisk shifting to the Southwest at 16 MPH gusting to 25 MPH.

.THIS IS POSSIBLY A UNUSUALLY STRONG AND SIGNIFICANT WIND STORM FOR MOST OF SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON.

GREATER PORTLAND METRO AREA-CENTRAL WILLAMETTE VALLEY-SOUTH WILLAMETTE VALLEY-NORTHERN OREGON CASCADE FOOTHILLS-WESTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE-GREATER VANCOUVER AREA-INCLUDING THE CITIES OF...

HILLSBORO...PORTLAND...OREGON CITY...  GRESHAM... SALEM... MCMINNVILLE... EUGENE... SPRINGFIELD... CORVALLIS... ALBANY...LEBANON...SANDY...ESTACADA...SWEET HOME... VANCOUVER...BATTLE GROUND...WASHOUGAL

A HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON.

* WINDS: SOUTH WIND BECOMING SOUTHWEST 25 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS   TO 65 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON.

* TIMING: PEAK WINDS LIKELY BETWEEN 12 NOON AND 5 PM.

* IMPACTS: POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD DOWNING OF TREES AND POWER   LINES CAUSING POWER OUTAGES. SOME DAMAGE TO PROPERTY IS   POSSIBLE.
